Customs: January–April trade surplus rises 37.8% to $65.3 bln

MOSCOW, Jun 6 (PRIME) -- Russia’s trade surplus rose 37.8% on the year to U.S. $65.3 billion in January–April, the Federal Customs Service said on Wednesday.

Exports increased 26.8% to $140.2 billion and imports rose 18.6% to $75 billion.

Fuel and energy resources accounted for 64.2% of physical exports in the period, up from 64.1% in the same period of 2017, while the share of metals and metal products went up to 10.7% from 9.9%. Cars and machine equipment accounted for 46.1% of Russia’s imports, up from 45.4% last year.

Trade with the E.U. accounted for 44.8% of Russia’s foreign trade in January–April, down from 45% in January–April 2017, the share of CIS countries fell to 11.8% from 12.3%, of states of the Eurasian Economic Union fell to 8.3% from 8.9%, and of the Asia–Pacific Economic Cooperation states decreased to 28.8% from 29.4%.
